Exchange Server 2000/2003 quickies Searching for email addresses in active directory You try to add an email address to a user and find you can't because "this email address already exists in this organization". Somewhere. How do you find it? Go Active Directory of Users and Groups > Find > Advanced > Field > User > Proxy Address > Starts With > type SMTP:whatever (where 'whatever' is the start of the offending address) > Find No luck? Try... Exchange Admin > Click the required domain > Recipients > Right-Click All Address Lists > New > Address List > Filter Rules > 'Exchange Recipients' should be selected in the drop down list > Advanced > Field > User > Proxy Address > Starts With > SMTP:whatever > Add > Find You can replace 'Proxy Address' with 'Contact', 'Public Folder', 'Distribution List' etc until you find it. It is also possible to export the Active Directory to a CSV file, then search the resulting file.
