Dead Pixels TFT monitors have some significant advantages over CRT models. 1. They take up much less room 2. They cost less to run 3. Screen glare is much less of a problem They are still at least twice the price of CRTs however, although this may change once CRT production is ceased (pencilled in for sometime this year, last I read). Even if a TFT monitor pays for itself in electricity saving over its lifetime, what happens if your shiny new monitor has dead pixels? In an ideal world the manufacturer would instantly replace it for you. Sadly, most manufacturers will only replace the monitor if either a certain number of pixels are dead and/or the dead ones are in certain locations. They all have different rules on what is acceptable and what is faulty. Before you buy, it's worth checking out http://www.behardware.com/art/imprimer/519/ to see the rules as stated by the major TFT manufacturers. |
